About EDA
The Economic Development Africa (EDA) platform, developed by Economic Growth and Development Center (Economic Center), is a unique hub dedicated to fostering economic development across Africa. The EDA platform identifies and celebrates the “heroes and champions” of economic development in Africa and its global allies— friends of Africa, development partners, and investors. This inclusive platform is designed to help fight poverty and drive prosperity across the continent by connecting stakeholders mostly from business, academic, and government (BAG) organizations.
Objectives
The EDA platform aims to be the leading space for collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of ideas in economic development. It seeks to:
- Promote poverty eradication by sharing strategies and encouraging collaboration.
- Foster support for entrepreneurship and exporting by canvassing for human capital training and increased access to financial capital.
- Encourage partnerships across communities, regions, and nations in Africa and across the world.

The EDA platform is spearheaded by Professor Magnus Kpakol, the Founder and CEO of the Economic Growth and Development Center, sharing economic development ideas worldwide. With extensive experience as Chief Economic Adviser to the President of Nigeria, CEO of the nation’s National Planning Commission, and later as the country’s National Coordinator of the National Poverty Eradication Program (NAPEP), Professor Kpakol brings unparalleled expertise and vision to the initiative. He also served for around two decades in corporate leadership roles in the United States and as a visiting professor at the University of Dallas, Texas.
